Hello,

Its been really interesting to read your comments on Marine+IT personnel. My feeling is that the potential of the such ppl is still not realized and the kind of asset they can be to this industry.....

btw i left the high seas as marine engineer and now into marine software sales/implementation/support.

Would be nice to hear from you.

Regards
Ravi Kiran

Good afternoon Wasim

I am gathering some information regarding C and Ku band VSAT and have a query regarding the FCC requirements for Maritime VSAT. I figured as you have implemented many VSAT installations with BP you would have experience / knowledge of this.
The document from the link below refers to various requirements to installations on vessels operating around the US. In particular it states that C-Band installations on vessels must not transmit with 200 Km from the shore and Ku-band installations must not transmit within 125 Km from the shore.
http://wireless.fcc.gov/spectrum/proceeding_details.htm?proid=325

Please can you confirm that this is correct and if so is there a system in place to automatically shut down the onboard systems when these limits are reached? Are you also aware of restrictions that may exist in other parts of the world?

Thanks and regards
