Hi bob, I found your thoughts very interesting. My company - Shipadmin AS - has developed a Gangway Security Solution. We attended the Digital Ship Conference in Oslo where we exhibited the GW system. We are currently considering using RFID technology in this system. Today we use bar-code. RFID can really add a lot of value into the marine industry.

Hi Bob.
My opinion about safety up on board is that I´ve seen lot of people working at no safety devises at all, I´ve seen some with tennis shoes and so on in El Salvador for exaple, we better tell Officer or people in charge, none is allowed on board or working at, lacking those devises, Iguess.

Dear all,
Inorder to implement a healthy safety environment onboard vessels world wide Owners, managers has a key role to play here. If you don't have backup from your shore management or local authorities you will find it hard to implement any improvements in regards to safety at work. I have something like 20 years of experience within the maritime industry. I have seen improvements made when it comes to safty. There are a big difference to this when it comes to cultures. Safety often related to if it's a developing region or not. Take the North Sea as an example, safety is a priority in the Offshore industry.
Any coments from other regions/branches in the maritime industry.
