Ours is a Ship Management Company, we are in the process of implementing an ERP for our office, Our main problem is how to configure the Ships in ERP, can we treat each ship as separate Profit center??

That is usually the case in an order to do voyage accounting and extract of profit and loss calculations from accounting per ship.

We are already using SMMS for ships and we are in the process of implementing Ramco ES to our office,
The main problem we are facing is that we are not able to draw shipwise TB, we have configure the ships as Cost centers and mapped this to all the account codes. We are not able to tally the Bank balances Shipwise during Cr and Dr documents adjustments and also during Common expenses apportion to vessels.
Appreciate your help on this.

Permalink Reply by Shan Manivannan on March 10, 2012 at 4:36 How is you Ramco system configured. You should define each ship as a separate entity and record all transactions under the entity. Monthend and Year End you should do an Entity consolidation, which is a normal feature in most of the ERP systems.
If you have already achieved this, please share it with the group, so that everyone is updated.
By the way what is SMMS? who is the provider?
